After 3 years waiting for a peep from yahoo they’ve finally unleashed a spiffy cocoa based version of Yahoo Messenger. Complete with webcam support and clean sharp visuals they’ve brought the product nicely up to date. On top of that major kudos to yahoo for getting out of the weird and oddly disturbing huddle with microsoft’s IE dev team. No one wants to be part of the group that never updates their software (or updates by releasing new styles rather than bug or feature fixes).
The good:
- finally written for osx
- supports webcam
- universal binary
The bad:
- Still no games support
- no apparent ability to reskin
Definitely a case where the good outweighs the bad. I’m excited about this although aside from using it when I get an isight (or a new macbook with built in camera) I’ll most likely just keep using adiumx since it’s smaller and has more abilities I love and don’t want to lose.
