About the Site

Introduction

Welcome to the online portfolio and musings of Chris O’Rourke a all around geek residing in beautiful Portland Oregon. You can find a little of everything usually present in my mind and what thoughts I have on designers and designs that inspire me. You can check out examples of my design work as well as a monthly free wallpaper in a variety of sizes. The links pages will offer links to excellent technical resources and informational sites. If you’re looking for a standards based designer who will give you cost effective solutions then you’ve come to the right place.
This site is running on:

The last Wordpress theme I used was a custom written theme called cdcreboot in honor of the initial CSS Reboot in May 2005. As I change the look of the site throughout the coming year I’ll eventually be cleaning up and releasing each theme I’ve developed as a free download in the soon to launch downloads section. There’s a lot of other tweaks and snippets of code from a variety of resources and inspirations on the net running under the hood but suffice it to say the site is running on a zero-hack, cleanly coded semantically marked up framework. Thanks go out to those who inspired it and those who’ve complimented it.

Big update! I haven’t had any dev time really since my son was born, so I’ve retired my old theme and am now using a heavily modified version of itheme from N. Design Studios. When I have some freetime I’ll be cleaning up and releasing cdcreboot to the masses, although it’ll have widget support finally (large part of the reason I am temporarily abandoning it).

I’ll soon be adding in a few additional plugins that I’ve either modified or written myself as well adding in the theme/template downloads section. Of course a lot of the new stuff is going to wait until I’ve had a chance to completely redesign the site to allow for 3-4 new sections as well as easier theming/updating of backend files.

Thank you for visiting and enjoy.
