Late Saturday night I decided it was high time to finally make a webclip icon for cdcstudios. It was a total piece of cake and shortly thereafter I made another one, this time for the folks over at Silicon Florist. For those not in the know, a webclip icon is the iPhone or iPod Touch desktop bookmark icon. They’re really easy to make and quite useful as displayed in the pic above.

With this plugin you can make a custom icon for your wordpress site or your wordpress multiuser site (yep this plugin will allow each individual WPMU blog to have full support for custom webclips). Head to the plugin page to get it or if you have any questions about it.

I’ve gone and done it. I’ve switched to a mac for much of my general surfing and design work. No more toting my massive Acer laptop around. Instead I’ll be toting the ultra gorgeous 15.2″ Powerbook. I didn’t intend to cast aside my beloved Windows XP. Really it’s not the OS, it’s me.

Last year I got my first ipod. A used 15gb 3rd gen tiny tasty piece of goodness. Just prior to going up for surgery (which went perfectly well and is gladly something I’m happy to be done with) I upgraded my dying ipod to a sexy hot 30gb ipod photo. The thing is Apple is quite evil about their merchandise. they give you that tiny little taste at a low price. That’s enough to get you hooked, before you know it, you’re suddenly installing Aqua skins on everything and begging someone for money to buy a song on itunes. Then eventually it happens. You walk into an apple store or see one of the regulars at your local coffeehouse pulling out the Powerbook.

After that you’re doomed. You need to have one and you need it now.

I was fine about wanting one until I had to get one for a client. I migrated their files to the new machine for them and had to spend 2 days working on it. After that I knew I had to have one.

I’ve already installed a lot of “must have” applications on it:

Adium

Firefox

Dashboard widgets galore

Mamp

So far I’m still getting used to the idea of that little “command” key and the lack of a right mouse button, but that’s ok. i’ve already started doing a ton of work I’d been putting off since now it’s “learning” and “fun”. Ok maybe not fun but definitely the laptop (if not me) will look good doing it.
